The Botanica

WHAT IS A BOTANICA?

It's an herbal shop!

Throughout latin America and in the Afroindigenous diaspora around the world we have community shops where we access herbs and other spiritual goods to help treat physical, material, spiritual, emotional, and psychological ailments.  You'll find that goods are consistent with our syncretized cultural background often times being a blend of Native American, West/Central African, and Spanish Catholicism.  You'll also find holistic healing services offered at these establishments. Remedies found in the botanicas have been used by our ancestors for hundreds to thousands of years.

In this botanica I'm currently not selling any items, I am using this space to highlight the tools I use on myself and certain tangata whai ora (a person seeking health).  Scroll down to find  links of suppliers!

This practice is animistic and promotes the benefits of seeing the spirit in organic beings. When a practitioner is in ayni (right relation) with a kin, that particular kin can become a helpful ally in supporting health and wellness through every stage of life from beginning to end.

Below is a list of allies! In the intake form ensure to list any notes that may be contradictive with any organic matter.

Products are compatibly matched to the wellness seeker. Some sessions employ the use of plant medicine while others will not, it depends on different factors.

Meet the Kin!

Tribe Earth Incense

Tribe Earth have created a beautiful range of incense that frames the intelligence of the plants the traditional way. They use time proven processing methods - grinding up the raw materials, mixing by hand into a dough, crafting into blocks then dehydrating at low temperatures.

Each plank burns like an incense cone and contains only fresh ingredients and plant materials - no glues, no artificial binders, no essential oils and no artificial fragrances.

Palo Santo

It’s wood from a tree called Bursera graveolens, nicknamed Palo Santo, that grows in South America. For centuries, Palo Santo, which translated means “holy wood,” has been burned as an energy cleanser. I call on this kin sparingly due to sustainibility reasons.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy uses medicinal plant oil to treat physiological, psychological, and emotional conditions. It’s a treatment renowned for its ability to balance, harmonise and promote the health of our minds, bodies, and spirits. Aromatherapy has been used as a medical treatment for thousands of years and is being validated with clinical evidence.

In aromatherapy, oils extracted from medicinal plants are called “essential oils”.  Depending on the condition or problem being treated, a practitioner will blend a number of essential oils together, which are then absorbed by the patient through the use of diffusers, spritzers, inhalers, bath salts, body oils, and more. Essential oils are antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, improve digestion, and help to relieve stress.

I mainly source my essential oils from dōTERRA

Copal

Our relative copal is often times a guest and host in ceremony. I particularly enjoy her presence in matters of ancestral work!

Herbs

A range of different herbs might be used in your session such as sage and rosemary; which are locally sourced from my backyard! The service where herb use would be typically present is in a Shamanic Healing Session

Stones & Crystals

Stone and Crystal allies are powerful technologies in delivering certain treatments.

The use of green stones in healing has been present in my Taino lineage for centuries!

In Romiromi Māori Bodywork I will, at times, use kōhatu (stones) to draw toxic energy from the body, or to apply concentrated pressure to specific haemata (pressure points).

Thanks to the Q'ero Shamans I've learned to use khuya stones to deliver powerful healings!

Testimonial

“I would like to advise Integrated Medixine is absolutely amazing, I had a Reiki done and I felt absolutely amazing the aromatherapy cleared the air and my breathing feels fantastic as to where it should and needs to be. The clear and soothing aroma, and relaxing calming practice of Reiki is what I needed I feel it has made me calm and collected. Alongside with feeling soothed I feel like it was a rest for my lungs and the quality of air of where I reside. I had a swollen foot because of bad circulation problems for many many years after a session of Reiki it completely went back to normal and the swollen part of the foot went almost completely away. I feel relieved and happy and healthy I ...have had session that is phenomenal and life changing I feel absolutely marvelous and terrific.”
