End of Life Care

WHAT IS END OF LIFE CARE?

We're all dying albeit at different rates. On occasion, a complete stranger will let you know that you have approximately 6 months to live. Although we all have a sense of the fact of death, it does often times take us by suprise when someome gives us an estimated date. It's not fun.

I, myself, have been in a position where an oncologist sat me down to talk with me about my health. I had my 8 month old baby in his stroller next to me as the oncologist carried on. Thankfully, I am well and still kicking (as I write this anyway), but I personally appreciate the fears around the potential of eminent death.

Because of our poisoned earth we have more diseased humans, plants, and animals than ever before. Whilst we gradually work on correcting this problem we still have a lot of individuals that will need the support of death workers to help them transition. Death carers are your medical team, palliative team, and workers like me who go by various terms like Death Doula, End of Life Practitioner, Death Walker, and more. Regardless of the title, we're here to support you through a powerful right of passage!

HOLDING SPACE

What does it mean to hold space?

It means that we are willing to walk alongside another person in whatever journey they're on without judging them, making them feel inadequate, trying to fix them, or trying to impact the outcome. When we HOLD SPACE for other people, we open our hearts, offer unconditional support, and let go of judgement and control.

-Heather Plett

How do YOU hold space?

Death care is offered to the dying, but this services is also extended to relations of the dying. A lot of times it's relatives that hire Death Doulas to assist the family navigate this very difficult time. Delivery service will look very different per case. My mission is to advocate for the transitioning individual. My goal is to provide a safe and peaceful journey. You will have weekly visits for over a period of up to 10 weeks at a time. I'll need to take a couple of weeks break every 10 weeks. or so. Every visit might look a little different, services are customized to the client's preference.

What I offer:

*You may find that healing treatments may be of great assistance during this time , but they are not included in the death doula service as it is standalone. I appreciate your understanding.

$100 1 hr or $850 for 10 weeks

*Unused funds will be refunded into your account

About the practitioner ...

I find that a lot of the people who get into this do so from a place of personal experience whether because of their own brush with death or experienced a loved one pass. This was not the case with me. I'm just weird! Birth Doulahood interested me at some point, but felt there was a shortage of carers that were showing up in the dying space. I started volunteering at a hospice clinic helping the terminally ill by providing companionship, then years down the line completed death care course work with an amazing nurse/birth doula/death doula for 40+ years Denise Love from Life Options is the embodiment of medicine and joy!

Do you euthanize?

Although there are practitioners that do offer this option, I do not. It has nothing to do with judgement, I'll go over this in a pending blog, stay tuned!

How much does a session cost?

DEATH SERVICE FOR PETS

We can have a despacho for your best friend. I'll help you create a special service for your beloved one.

"Death is our companion, our guide, our advisor; we look to her when we need a reminder of who and what is important in our life. What stories will your family tell about you when it comes time to place your photograph on the Ofrenda?"

-Grace Sesma

Testimonial

“Claudia helped me through a very dark moment in my life: the tragic passing of my 2yo daughter. She ground me to the earth and filled me with the spiritual energies I needed to make it through that. I was not alone and neither was my daughter, as Claudia kept her company in her journey. I am forever grateful for this and will always recommend her for any bereavement.”

"We are travelers on a cosmic journey, stardust, swirling and dancing in the eddies and whirlpools of infinity. Life is eternal. We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share. This is a precious moment. It is a little parenthesis in eternity.”

"Somos viajeros en un viaje cósmico, polvo de estrellas, girando y bailando en los remolinos y torbellinos del infinito La vida es eterna. Nos hemos detenido un momento para encontrarnos, para conocernos, para amarnos, para compartir. Este es un momento precioso. Un pequeño paréntesis en la eternidad."
